Hello, again! Summer is definitely a time of the year where taking an extra mile when it comes to skincare is acceptable. We tend to be in the sun longer than usual; thus, having products that deliver what we need most is a must.

Today’s post I’m going to share the products I use regularly in the summer and why I love them. I hope this will help you if you’re looking for new products to try and hopefully what works for me will do for you.

I use this not only in the summer but all year round. I believe there is a scrub version but this one, in particular, is the product I re-purchase after I went to try out other products and didn’t work. It has a creamy texture and especially when you have it lather up, it just feels satisfying into the skin. If you’re like me who love their face wash floppy so they know that all the specks of dirt are coming off, this one might also be for you. After washing it off it makes my skin smooth and clean without that feeling of tightness that makes me so uncomfortable. Definitely my favourite out of every single face washes I have ever tried.

I have an oily skin and almost into the sensitive side thus using a toner is a big help. This one, in particular, is soothing and actually kind of calming my skin down especially this summer season. I get tiny red bumps around my forehead and chin but when I started using this toner they disappeared. Another thing is, we know washing alone does not really remove all the dirt. Therefore, using a toner on a cotton pad also removes the residues that I missed from washing. It feels refreshing and it claims to be moisturizing as well, which it really is. The consistency is watery with a very light scent to it.

I can’t even tell you how much I really love these moisturizers! These are the Essentials Urban Skin Detox Night Cream and Essentials Urban Skin Defence Day Cream Moisturiser SPF 20. You can already tell which is which. I have used different moisturizers before; high-end or drug store but nothing really made my skin the way it is now. The main ingredient of this product is green tea and that’s presumably why it’s not harsh and heavy for my skin. Perfect for summer because it’s light, fast absorbing, and provides you with the moisture that you need particularly in the summertime. This doesn’t break me out and it makes my skin extra glowy. Highly recommend this for my Asian girls out there who are looking for new products to try!

This is a no-brainer. We need to wear sunscreen people, especially during the summertime. I have been using this product for 3 months now and it’s been doing wonders for me. I love myself some anti-ageing factor from anything I get my hands into, hence I am sold by this.

I used to be so diligent when it comes to moisturising my body. I remember I even do it night and day, then I became super bad at it. At nighttime, I hardly apply lotion and during the day if I’m not running late then I can go through applying such. The reason is that sometimes I get lazy and I don’t like the sticky feeling that it gives me. I have been trying to be better at it though. I am using the Jergens Daily Moisture for day to day moisturizer and the Hawaiian Silk Hydration with SPF 50 when I am actually in the sun. To go extra, I use the Shimmer Effect for a golden glow finish mainly when I’m out and about having fun under the summer sun. Each product absorbs quickly, it feels light in my skin, doesn’t make me feel greasy, and it smells like an absolute summer!

Okay, that is it for now, thank you so much for reading. Until next Saturday!

I mess around with so many different products but these are my top picks. I have been keeping it simple, and the lesser the product the better. When it comes to skincare I mostly focusing on keeping my skin moisturized, protected from the sun, and all that age-rewind sort of things.

Makeup Remover wise. I recently discover this from Sephora (obviously), when I was swatching products from them, the lady working there used this on my hands and I was impressed (so much that I have to purchase it) on how it clears your skin off of everything! It is a cleansing water but it works well in removing all your makeup. You just put on a cotton pad or two and rub it around your face. It’s amazing, highly recommend it.

Onto Moisturizer. I am using a moisturizer by Hada Labo. It is a Japanese skin care product that provides you with an intense hydration with its super smooth light texture, that is quickly absorbed by your skin without feeling it heavy or greasy at all. It is so good, it doesn’t cause me breakouts and you can see the difference between a well-moisturized skin and that’s not, the very next morning you wake up. I will link their site here so you can have a look if some of you are wondering. I got mine from a friend and she ordered them from Japan. The 140ml bottle goes a long way and I’m obsessed!

So, I have been experiencing itchiness in some areas of my face that are believed to be caused by dryness and probably because the season’s changing. This product has been a huge help in calming the itch and resolving the dryness. I use just a small amount and apply it to the affected areas.

SUNSCREEN. Yes, they are in capital letters to show how passionate I am about sunscreens. In here we get too much sun and I always and always put sunscreen, it is a huge thing for me. In fact, I use them night and day every day. It is not being extra, it is necessary to have it in your routine helping you avoid skin damages from UV lights, mentioning two of so many: wrinkles and dark spots. I love this one, it has SPF 50 in it and specifically resists and reduces the appearance of UV-Induced Aging.

Nose Mask. This has been my best find for effectively clearing out my nose pores. I do it once every other week and I kid you not, it causes me tears everytime I peel off the mask but hey it is good and it is working, so everything’s fine. It gives me joy how it makes my nose bright, clear, and smooth.

Face Mask. Often times, I switched things up from a peel-off mask to sheet mask depending on what my skin needs. But this one works so well for me that is why I’m sticking with it. I love this because it is not too intense but it does the job, declogging my pores from all the gunk that might have been accumulated from wearing makeup every day. I do this once a week and I absolutely love it, it leaves my skin smooth, fresh, and clean.

DISCLAIMER: I am asian and I tend to gravitate towards asian skincare products just because I have found that my skin reacts differently and there are products that do not work for me.

Alright, that is going to be it for today. Thank you so much for reading. Until next time!

I would do anything for aesthetic. As you might notice instagram is completely consumed by never-ending innovations on how to better photos. Recently I have tried making my way into the dusty-effect-phenomenon of instagram photos because I think they’re cool and cute. Now, I will show you how do I do mine.

Step 1:

Download the Afterlight app (I believe it’s $0.99 and also available for Android) then start exploring and creating. Open the application and choose the photo you want to edit by allowing the app to have access to your photos. You should see the same thing as you see in the image below.

Step 2:

After clicking the square thing, you will see 4 options that will look like the image below. Click the DUSTY one.

Step 3:

This is the final step. After you clicked the DUSTY, you will have 13 different choices of dusty effects. My favourite is number 12 as shown below and I usually click-and-save up to 4 times depending on how I would prefer the opacity of the effects will look like on my photo.

Check out the AFTER photo and other before and after images below.

So, there you have it guys and I hope this is helpful. As always, edit yours according to your liking and personal style. Happy editing!

As you know or might not know, the weekend in the UAE falls on Friday and Saturday. I am so grateful that I get to enjoy them now. That being said, I went to the beach for two consecutive weekends now. Welcomed the sand on my feet, floated in the water and sort of swam a bit (because your girl right here can’t swim, like the actual swimming thing that swimmers do? yes that), and soaked under the sun. Plus I need to know how to swim and hanging out at the beach is a perfect way to do so. Also, I made a promise to myself to go out and explore the city as much as possible, though, I only have the weekends, we will make it happen!

For a quick background: The beach extends along Corniche Road from near the Hilton Hotel to beyond Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street. The beach is equipped with multiple umbrellas to use and cost AED 25 (US $6.81). It’s divided into different gates (Gate 1, 2, 3, 4) and these are the areas for family and friends with AED 10 (US $2.7) entrance fee, aside from the General Public beach (that is open and free of charge).

Rest assured that the place has a massive parking space and some are free of charge as well.

That is all for the update for now.

Keep your eyes peeled! Cheers!

The Face Shop//New Finds

For the past few weeks, my skin was a mess! Pimples were popping everywhere (at least only on the surfaces of my face, fortunately), plus it’s that time, that depressing time when you need refills for the products you have gone thru. While my skin was in that not-so-pleasing state, decided to might as well try out other products. I have tried first the serum of The Face Shop and oh I’m loving it! Then, the raving desire went on and now my skin care regime is gradually becoming The Face Shop centred. Haha.

Here are the products I fall in love with:

Pomegranate and Collagen Volume Lifting Eye Cream

I have been loving the eye cream as well. It’s the perfect alternative for the Kiehl’s anti ageing cream one that I used to use because that stuff is very expensive! When I saw the word collagen on the product, I’m sold! In addition, the texture is almost like a serum rather than a cream. Since it is light weight, it gets cold even under a room temperature and once you apply it on your skin it will (kind of) act as a de-puffer too. I use this night and day as part of my skin care routine before I apply any moisturizer on.

Calendula Moisture Serum

My new favourite serum! My skin type is on the drier side and any product that can give me moisture, I’ll be all over it. This product absorbs easily and leaves your skin soft and hydrated but not greasy.

Chia Seed Fresh Lip and Eye Make-Up Remover

I’m not very particular when it comes to make-up remover because I always do wash my face after removing my make-up and follow up with micellar water before I proceed to apply any product on, so, anything will do. However, I like this one particularly because of its name and I know that this is meant to be used for lips and eyes only but I use this on my whole face. This removes everything without stinging your eyes and since chia seeds are packed with protein and antioxidants they’re supposed to be very good for your skin.

Fresh Milk Cream

Instead of using a body lotion, I use this. It’s rich and creamy (hence the name hehe) and moisturises just like your typical lotion would do. I am just a big fan of products that get the job done and absorb quickly. There’s nothing more gross than feeling sticky and waste a minute to wait until the lotion dries up or absorbs before putting clothes on especially when you’re running late (story of my life, always).

These are all my new finds that serve me well and I don’t regret purchasing.

Thanks for stopping by and take care of yourself! xx

Posted in lifestyle, make up

I have been on a hunt for a new facial cleanser and found Aveeno. I used a few products and did not find any distinctive result from a long time of using it. Sure, it cleanses your face, I hoped. However, with this product, I notice a difference right after patting my skin dry; it does not make my skin feel tight like an everything-stripped-off kind of tight, and the brightening effect does actually work because my pimple scars appear less dark in just two weeks of using.

Sunscreen. We all know how important sunscreens are and somehow we just take it for granted. However, it is essential in your skin care routine to count the sunscreen in, every day. I too don’t bother to use sunscreen before, but now I do. I am using Cetaphil; it tends to feel a bit sticky on the skin at first right after applying it, but it dries faster and absorbs into the skin quickly, so the stickiness therein will not be long.

I fell in love with the Diorskin Star Concealer by Dior. In fact, I like it more now than the NARS Creamy Concealer. It blends well, matches my skin tone and acts as an undereye highlight as well; it is perfect. I do not use it every day though because it is a bit pricey for a 6ml tiny little tube or bottle.

This fragrance is currently my go to scent. The girl working at Sephora recommended it, and so I gave it a try. Received a couple of compliments on it too (insert tongue-out emoji). I am bad at describing scent or anything really, but I will try, it smells like fresh flowers without making it overwhelmingly flowery or sweet; it is light and clean. Yes, there you go. Hehe.

I am fully committed to bronzing now. Totally can make a huge difference on your whole face’s complexion or overall appearance. The product and the packaging itself compliment with each other resulting into this adorable little bundle. Thanks to a good friend of mine for having such a great sense of Christmas present idea.

Still on the era of my ‘things that shimmers’. Took a break from using my Elizabeth Arden Liquid Highlighter and switch to Make Up Forever Pro Light Fusion in No. 1 which is golden pink, ideal for light to medium skin tones. I am recently obsessing over highlighting my nose bridge, cupid’s bow, brow bone, and chin. I use the Sephora Pro Fan Eventail 65 with it, which I do not really like but it does the job, so I still use it. You can never go wrong with highlight, and it seems like if you overdo it the better. But I don’t, overdo it. Hopefully.

I got my eyelashes permed, so I don’t have to deal with curling my lashes every single day. The thing is if my eyelashes are curled they tend to smudge the mascara big time. So finding a mascara that can minimise that is a bit tricky. I stumbled upon soap and glory products and found this Thick and Fast mascara, and it isn’t mentioned on the packaging if it is actually a waterproof one, but I like it a lot. It doesn’t smudge and can be removed easily every time I wash my face which is a good thing; because there’s nothing more annoying than removing waterproof mascara and trying hard not to pull all of your eyelashes off.

I recently cut my hair short, and so it means my styling options are limited now. I have been wearing my hair curled, and with the use of this product, it stays curled for at least 6 hours tops since this is a soft touch hold hair spray only and because I don’t like the feel of crisp and stickiness the strong hold hairsprays are giving. I use a 16mm curling wand, spritz some hair spray and dry shampoo if it is the second day, then call it a day.

I didn’t realise how much I missed wearing ear hoops until recently. They are in now, and I think they look cute with every outfit possible, and so I thought I would try them on again. I used to wear them since high school, I reckon. This one is from H&M, by the way.

I finished reading this book a while back, but it has remained fresh in my memory especially the images it has created. I tend to go back and flip the pages and I might or might not have read it a couple of times more. This book talks about issues surviving high school (regular millennial thing), bullying, love, struggles, life and death. The book is so well-written and expresses a particular message that will make you realise; you will never know what anyone could be thinking and feeling. It will leave you wanting to know more and more about what will happen next once you start flipping the first few pages. This is definitely my absolute favourite as of now; otherwise, this has not made it to my fave list. Highly recommend reading it and let me know if you cried too.

Broadchurch is my current favourite TV Series. It is about crime, drama, and mystery. It has 3 seasons so far with 8 episodes per season. It makes you think and wonder what has happened as well, and the twists are just amazing and exciting. I can not wait for the season 4 to come out. Watch it, and I assure you, you will love it. Unless you are not into crime investigations, journalism and law related kind of stuff, this might bore you. I, on the other hand, enjoy it.

These are my current favourites. I hope you discover something you might end up liking too. Thank you for stopping by and take care of yourself!
